06:19 pm - Updates long due
First off: Dresden

Dresden was amazing!!! We had the best of time and... our camera battery died as we got there, so no pictures, I'm very very sorry!
We didn't make it to the "World'd most beautiful Milk Shop" but it really seems to be amazingly beautiful... All decorated with Willeroy & Boch porcelain tiles... Pity, but we'll go there the next time.

On Saturday we got there late, walked a lot, along the Elbe, in the Neustadt bar district and in the lovely Altstadt, saw the Japanese Palais. On Sunday we got up early, had a lovely champagne breakfast, went to the service in Frauenkirche (wow! that church is amazing! and it was packed!), walked around, visited the New Green Chamber and looked at all those amazing treasures - even saw the cherry pit with something like 170 faces carved on it, had coffee (well, Basti had a beer) and headed home to change. Went to the opera. It was lovely. The atmosphere was amazing, the people really elegant, the drinks terribly overprized and Wagner... well, Wagner.
On both days we had dinner/lunch at a lovely Thai restaurant - yummy!!!
On Monday we slept in and then headed to Schloss Wackerbarth vinery... we got to walk all through the vineyard, try all the different grapes and enjoy the lovely, sunny autumn day. We then had coffee, cake and champagne in their little Gasthaus and later drove home.

The weekend was amazing!

Wedding-related:
Uncle Walter - the difficult one - wanted to giveus cutlery. We picked something we liked and that was affordable and were hoping for a set for 6 people. He told us he wanted to buy us stuff for 12 people. Fine. He asked if he should take it along to the wedding and give it to us in Finland or here in Germany. We said, however you like. Still haven't seen it. And we're really in desperate need of cutlery!! I have 8 older ladies coming over tomorrow and a total of 5 cake forks... well, they'll just have to eat their cake with spoons. Can't help it.

Tomorrow:
I've got those 8 lovely, older Finnish ladies coming for coffee and champagne to clebrate our wedding. I've made a sandwich cake and baked biscotti, tomorrow I'll get flowers to decorate with and maybe some Xmas baked goods "just in case". Basically, the ladies are bringing something to eat with them, but I'm not sure it'll be enough, I'll have to get something that'll hold in case it's not needed. Stollen is perfect.
We'll have to move the kitchen table (and maybe my desk) into the living room and have people sit all over the living room. I don't even have matching cups for all - the most I have of one pattern is 8... I'll have to see what I do with that... Maybe it's just 8 for coffee and then the ones drinking tea can get another pattern (I have a lovely tea set)

03:50 pm

I've been trying to figure out what to do in Dresden.

I think we'll have to stay a whole week. I want to see the new Frauenkirche, but apparently it's not open during the weekend, but could go to a service on Sunday morning (there's a shorter service Seunday evening - but then we'll be at the opera), there's the four and a half hour opera we're going to see, I'd like to go to the "World's Most Beautiful Milk Shop", visit the Synagogue, look at the treasures at the "Grünes Gewölbe" (Green Vault?), visit the market hall with its wine and cheese cellar... and I'd love to drive around the surrounding country side and hike in mountains south-east of Dresden.

We'll be getting up early on Saturday to drive down... the drive is about 5 hours but since I'll be driving too, it'll take longer than if Basti was doing all the driving. I'm not really up to driving 160 km/h for a longer time, I'll do it to pass trucks etc. but... Oh, well, maybe there isn't all too much traffic and I can practise a little.

No weight loss so far. Being sensible and actually eating although I want to loose weight is annoying at times... I want to be skinny NOW not in two months.

01:08 pm - Dresden-Honeyweekend
Yep - on Saturday we'll be leaving for our three-day-honey-weekend that Nicca & co. got us as a wedding gift.
Yesterday I got an email confirming that we do indeed have tickets for Lohengrin on Sunday evening in the SEMPEROPER   and I'm excited!!

Although I'm not a Wagner fan, I'm really looking forward to going.
